Matcha Latte
Let’s start with the classic: a matcha latte.
Our favorite way to prepare a matcha latte is to sweeten it with honey, adding the honey right after whisking the matcha green tea powder with 2 oz of hot (not boiling) water. We like doing it at that point because the water is hot enough to make the honey dissolve completely, but we don’t get the honey on our bamboo whisk.
For an extra fancy (but still easy-to-make!) matcha latte, we like to mix our blue spirulina powder with a cup of milk until it’s a vibrant blue color.
Finally, we pour the blue milk over ice, and pour the sweetened matcha green tea mixture on top.
This iced matcha latte is our favorite way to get extra antioxidants and change up the flavor of a classic matcha latte.
(Plus, it’s just super pretty.)

Honey to taste

Using a matcha bowl and bamboo whisk, vigorously whisk 2 oz hot water and 1 tsp of matcha until frothy. Then, add honey to taste and mix in.
For the moon milk:
Using an electric whisk, whisk ½ tsp of organic blue spirulina into 1 cup of milk or dairy alternative until all powder is dissolved.
Moon matcha – assemble!
Pour blue moon milk over a glass with ice. Then, pour the matcha and honey mixture on top.
Voila! Beautiful, delicious, antioxidant-rich moon matcha latte.
Ceremonial Matcha (no milk)
If you’ve been in the matcha craze for long enough, you probably know about ceremonial matcha – basically, it’s just the preparation of matcha as a tea.
Ceremonial matcha tea is a great way to get all the health benefits of matcha without adding any other ingredients or sugars. This method of incorporating more matcha in your daily routine gives you the gentle energy boost we crave from matcha, but it can also be a calming and mindful ritual.
The process of whisking the matcha and slowly sipping on this umami-forward tea is a great excuse to slow down and enjoy the day.
To make a ceremonial matcha, simply whisk 1 tsp of ceremonial grade matcha green tea powder with 2 oz of hot water until frothy.
Then, pour hot water into a separate mug and pour the ceremonial matcha over it.
We like to do it this way because the matcha gets good and frothy with the small amount of water, before adding it to the rest of the hot water.
Ceremonial matcha is a fantastic way to soak up all the antioxidants and health benefits of matcha green tea powder.
Adding matcha green tea powder to your snacks
Besides beverages, matcha powder can be easily incorporated into your daily snacks and meals.
One method is to add a teaspoon or two to your morning smoothie, overnight oats, or chia seed pudding for an extra nutrient boost.
Of course, you can also experiment with matcha-infused baked goods, such as muffins, scones, or even energy bars and energy balls, to satisfy your sweet tooth while enjoying the benefits of this superfood.
Use matcha green tea powder in savory dishes
For a savory matcha twist, try incorporating the powder into homemade dressings, marinades, or even as a seasoning for roasted vegetables or grilled proteins. We know – it sounds a little crazy.
But it’s just crazy enough to work.
The earthy, umami notes of matcha can add a unique and delicious depth of flavor to your usual meals.
